Member Registration

Section 1. Qualifications for Members

Membership in the Islamic Society of Norman (“ISN”) is a privilege open to all male adult Muslim residents of Cleveland County, Oklahoma, who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and are from Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah, believing in the following:
  1.  The Five Pillars of Islam: Shahadatain, Prayer, Fasting, Zakat, and Hajj.
  2.  The Articles of Faith without additions or deletions, including belief in Allah, His Angels, His Prophets and Messengers, His Books, the Day of Judgment, and Divine Decree (Qada’ and Qadar).
  3.  The authenticity of Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
  4.  The infallibility of the Prophets only.
  5.  Respect, love, and reverence for Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) as the final Prophet of Allah, including respect for his wives and progeny.
  6.  Respect, love, and reverence for all Companions of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

Section 2. Procedures for Membership

To become a member of ISN, the following steps are required:
  1. The applicant must complete, sign, and submit a membership application form.
  2.  The application will be reviewed by the Executive Committee, which may approve or deny the application.
  3.  Approved members (general and voting) must pay the membership fee established by the Executive Committee.
    · Annual membership dues may not increase more than 50% in a single year without approval of the General Assembly.

Section 3. Types of Membership

General Members
Any individual who satisfies the qualifications defined in Section 1 may become a General Member of ISN.
Voting Members

General Members who have fulfilled all membership obligations may apply for Voting Member status, subject to approval by the Executive Committee.

  •  Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  •  To vote in an ISN Executive Committee election, the member must have joined ISN at least six (6) months prior to the election date.
  •  Membership is valid for one year and must be renewed annually by paying membership dues.
Lifetime Members
A Voting Member may become a Lifetime Member upon approval by the Executive Committee and payment of a $1,000 fee. A Lifetime Member must still meet all obligations required of a Voting Member as outlined in Section 1.

Section 4. Warning, Suspension, and Termination

  1. Failure to meet membership obligations.
  2.  Conviction of a felony or criminal offense.
  3.  Actions deemed contrary to the interests of Islam or the mission, goals, objectives, or welfare of ISN.

Section 5. Appeal

Any member who is warned, suspended, or terminated will receive written notice of the action. The member has the right to appeal to the Board of Trustees within thirty (30) days of the notice. The Board of Trustees’ decision is final.
